When I was younger I thought cheating was the cardinal sin of relationships but I don’t think of it that way anymore. I have friends who have been on both sides of that equation and weirdly often their reaction seems to be ‘ehh…. life is complicated, so I just pretend I don’t know they did that’. In some cases it can bring in a sort of trailing bitterness, but in others the distance that naturally sets in over the years is enough of a buffer.
I have a hard time imagining my partner cheating because he’s the kind of guy who generally detests any interaction with new people of any gender, so he is perpetually in sight hahah. But if I were to find out he had cheated when we were younger I genuinely think I would be fine-ish with it.
Of course that’s easy to say when the situation is not upon you.
